RELATIONSHIPS:  IS LOVE EVER ENOUGH?


I don't know if you have ever been in love. I don't know if someone in particular has ever been at the center of your entire life. I don't know if love has left you so broken that you're genuinely unsure how the many pieces that your heart has now become, will ever become whole again. 

I used to believe with all my heart that love could never be enough. I mean, you could be stark, raving mad about somebody and they could feel the exact way about you, but that could never provide the assurance and security you need for it to last forever. I thought there had to be something else, something extra. I had to hear a host of angels singing in unison "he's the one for you, stay put." 
I have come to realize that I was awfully wrong.

 Please bear in mind that I refer to circumstances where you are compatible with your partner in every other regard- health wise, personal beliefs and so on.

 At the end of the day, I genuinely do not have all the answers. All I will dare ask, though is why can't love be enough? I mean if it's pure and true, it should be all-encompassing, right?- respect, kindness, humility, patience, unselfishness etc, etc. Ever read 1 Corinthians 13:4-7?

 I feel like, and I just might be wrong, but love CAN be enough. Sometimes, you just don't love the other person enough to be willing to sacrifice and become better for their sake and for the sake of your love. 

 I have seen enough and heard quite a number to believe that love can see you through the toughest of situations. Now, I might be talking absolute shenanigans or you might be on the same page with me. Either way, please do not leave without sharing your thoughts!

    Beautiful piece... but i feel that love is encompassing. love is one concept that means many other things. Therefore, if you really love someone with the correct definition of love then love might just be enough.

    The thought has crossed my mind on several occasions AJ, IS LOVE REALLY ENOUGH? Like you i haven't been able to find a precise and adequate answer.. I just feel it in my heart that it should.. Come to think of it, Love is not rocket science after all, maybe we are not suppose to be factual about it, only you know what you feel in your heart, even the devil does not know a man's heart(I believe it should be a 'woman's heart' in that phrase,topic for another day)
