SELF MOTIVATION/DEVELOPMENT: YOU ARE WORTH IT


Dear baby girl,

I know you have been limited. More by the many thoughts in your beautiful head. 
Your Mother makes clear to you everyday that you are the most beautiful thing she's ever laid eyes on. Your father, difficult as he is, lets you know how proud he is of you- especially when you've just served his favorite meal. Your man, the most important person in your world, has sworn oath to do anything to make you happy. 

But they don't know. They don't know all the things you know. They don't know about all the many 'back and forths' you have in your head. They don't know what you've been through. They just don't know. How can they understand?

They don't know about the many times you've been mocked and disgraced for things that aren't even your fault, things you didn't ask for. Or that time he led you on, made you believe you were his everything and left as soon as you started to get comfortable. They don't know about how hard you studied for that test, and put in your all into that venture but still failed. Now, you're never going to get that job you want so badly. And how you feel so unworthy and so unlovable. I know how much it sickens you.

Yes baby girl, you want the compliments to stop as soon as they start because you do not believe a single word. It must be some other person who's at the receiving end because when you look in the mirror, you do not see what they supposedly do. It saddens you because you know you're on a journey to pushing everyone you love away. But it's not your fault because they have refused to accept that you do not deserve their love. They can leave if they want. It'll at least save you from the many lies they tell about your "wonderfulness."


If you don't believe them, why would you believe me? Well, baby girl, they don't understand, but I do. Because you are me and I am you. Don't you dare think that I am ever going to give up on you. 

I see your potential, I know what you can become. But you have been eaten so deeply by all your insecurities. Your Mother has never been more right. You are so beautiful. There isn't anyone else like you. You do so many great things everyday. You've been through everything you have and look who's still standing? Yes you, baby girl.
I know what your yesterday was. I know you worry about tomorrow. I know you worry that you're going to mess this up like you messed the rest up. Give yourself a chance, will you? Share some of that love you are so willing to spread with yourself.

I know things are not perfect, baby girl, and they never will be. But you know what? This year, baby girl, we're rising above our imperfections, above our mistakes, above our recklessness and we are going to soar. This time we are going to reach for things we have never dared to. We are going after everything we've always dreamt of- even attempted but failed. 

You are worth it. There isn't anyone else more deserving of love than you. Your heart is gold. Your soul is beautiful. You are a gift to the world- it needs you. I need you. We need you.

You are worth it, baby girl. Go on, tell yourself everyday. You are worth it. You can do all things through Christ Who gives you strength. You are phenomenal. You are smart. You are going to achieve. 

And for all the people who looked down or left your life- they weren't supposed to be there in the first place. Good riddance.

But do not take my word for it, baby girl. Dare to believe it. Believe it so much that if your Father didn't tell you or your friends didn't make you sure enough, you would still believe in its validity. You are good enough. You are a star. You are priceless. You are worth it. I am so proud of the woman you are becoming. You are you and there isn't anyone else you'd rather be.
